 THE Word OJALÁ

 

One of the words in the conversation of the Spanish speaking words is “ojalá”. Comes from the Arab insch Allah, meaning the force of the Almighty If God wills. The will of God it is.

Some philologists attribute the expression to the time of the Crusades, however, in my opinion, it explains and extremes the eight centuries of long convivial between Muslims, Jews and Christians during the Reconquista.

The meaning theologically reflects an attitude fatalist of Islam. “Markfut” (everything is written) of Islam. And God’s fear. In addition, in God we trust

We Spaniards come from the religion of Abraham. I myself, being from a Jews tribe of converses in Segovia. It is my ascendance. We love book and the written word. I am not a fatalist as the Arabs are. Nevertheless, I fear such a verdict.

 They, my forefathers, settled in Sacramenia, received the waters of baptism in XIV century after the progroms in the city of Burgos and the preaching of San Vicente Ferrer.

When I meet a Jew, I feel part of the brethren. It is said there is always a Jew to help you, they are a stubborn race of survivals, that is why I put in quarantine and have my caveats towards the ideas of Shoah (should Adonai forgive me). You can´t attribute a terrible war, due to human passions and political discrepancies, economic ambition to an expression of Revelation. God is peace and love creative. Do not mingle those things please.

The world is eternal according to the Talmud. Thus, do not believe either in Apocalypses.

Life is a perpetual continuum. God is everlasting, man finite.

The prophet Abraham is the father of the believers no doubt about. From that stems radiate the three religions of monotheists. It is the religion of the book of Revelation.

However, I feel sympathetic to the Arab world.

As a linguist lover the word when I peruse my dictionaries I find about one thousand of words assimilate to de Castilian tongue like: almirez, almazara, alfama, ajedrez, alhondiga, alferez, alhelí etc. ojalá is the same root. Spain is a strange country because of the diverse of its ethnic precedence.

We are moors, Christian and Jews. That is the title of travelling book of Camilo José Cela. The Sepharad´s legacy is simpler, a few words like Amen, Cabañuelas (prediction of the oncoming weather according to the position of the stars in the month of August when Jews celebrated the Feat if the Tabernacles, and a collection and adages. My opinion that we all this love and hate each other, Spain is the country of the three cultures, I do not want to see my motherland to perish. That is the ideas of our dictator Pedro Sanchez in disguise of democracy and now I make a call to the American people to help us, the real professors of democracy.
